Scientific and applied research

The beginnings of science and academic research in a national context are inextricably linked with the Faculty of Philosophy. The year 1921 marked the establishment of the “Skopje Scientific Society” at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, with the aim of developing academic research activity. The first issue of the Annual of the Faculty of Philosophy was published in 1948 – the first academic journal in post-war Macedonia – in which academic papers were published for the first time in Macedonian. From then up to the present, the academic contribution of the Faculty of Philosophy has been rooted in the overall educational, cultural, economic, and social development of society. In the spirit of tradition, the academic activity of the Faculty of Philosophy continues today through a number of academic research and publishing activities.

To support the realization of academic activities at the Faculty of Philosophy, several research centers have been established. In the academic year 2020/21, there are 12 active research centers, focused on research and applied projects on specific topics and issues in the fields of humanities and social sciences:

*Within the framework of the PALS project, two significant outputs were developed that will be applied in future project activities. The PALS manual offers significant theoretical and conceptual approaches for implementation of play and life skills in the daily work of kindergartens. The specificity of the manual is its link with video materials that support the manual content and reflect the real context in which the development of play and life skills of children from 4 to 8 years old is visible.
