Institute for Security, Defence and Peace

Dr. Zorica Saltirovska

Full professor

She was born on July 28, 1964 in Skopje. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, at the then Institute of Defense, in 1987. From September 1987 to June 1989 she worked as a substitute at the EMUC “Nikola Tesla” in Skopje, and from November 1989 she started working as a junior assistant at the Department of Defense at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. In 1997 she defended her master’s thesis on “Military service in the defense system of the Republic of Macedonia and the attitudes of young people towards military service”, and in June 2007 at the Institute of Defense she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Organization of the Armed Forces in order to restructure the ARM and motivate the youth to join the Armed Forces ”. In 2010 she transferred to the Institute for Security, Defense and Peace, where she gets new courses for the preparation of which she actively works in the following years and for which she wrote textbooks and monographs. In 2012 she was elected associate professor, and in 2017 she was elected full professor. She has participated in several scientific gatherings and international conferences in the field of security, where she has presented her scientific and professional papers. He is the author of several papers published in collections and scientific / professional journals with international editorial boards.

She is the head of postgraduate studies, second cycle studies in Peace.

Fluent in French; amateur deals with home handcrafts.

Research interests: gender responsive policies in Southeast Europe and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, tackling gender-based violence, EU policies to prevent violence against women and children, the position of women in modern armies, EU internal security policies, Euro-Atlantic integration.
