Dr. Vladimir Ilievski

Associate professor

Prof. Dr. Vladimir Ilievski was born in 1974 in Dusseldorf. He graduated (1998) and received his master’s degree (2006) at the Institute for Social Work and Social Policy, Faculty of Philosophy, at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje. In 2011 he was employed at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje as a junior assistant at the Institute for Social Work and Social Policy. In September 2013, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Prejudices against people with mental disorders and their involvement in the labor market” and earned a doctorate in social work and social policy. In the same year he was elected assistant professor. In March 2018, he was elected associate professor in the teaching-scientific title.

From 2000 to 2002, he was employed as a social worker at the American Refugee Committee, Skopje. In 2004, he worked as a researcher on the Project for Common Vision, a branch office of WSP International, Geneva.

From January 26, 2006 to May 12, 2011, he was employed as a social worker in the Center for Mental Health “Vlae”, at the PHI Psychiatric Hospital “Skopje” – Skopje. Since 2006 he has been actively involved in the civil sector, a member of several citizens’ associations such as: Association of Social Workers of the City of Skopje, Macedonian Scientific Association for Autism, Macedonian Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion and Roma Resource Center.

He has participated in several international and scientific projects in the field of social protection and social work in health.

He participates in numerous scientific and professional conferences, seminars, educational workshops and schools in the country and abroad.

In 1998, he completed a study visit to improve his German language at the College of Europe in Kassel, Federal Republic of Germany.

He speaks English and German.

Research interests: social work in health, social protection, social work with persons with disabilities, social work with the elderly and social work in civil society organizations.
