Dr. Vancho Kenkov
Professor Dr. Vancho Kenkov was born on December 25, 1954. year in Tashkent, USSR (USSR). He completed primary and secondary education (high school) in Skopje. He graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade in 1978, and in 1990 he successfully passed all the exams for the rank of Major at the Command and Staff Academy. Until 1993 he worked as an active military person.
In the academic year 1993/1994 he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Institute of Defense at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. Since 1995 he has been employed at the Institute of Defense as a lecturer in the subjects of defense and defense and the group of military-professional subjects: Basics of military skill, Military-vocational training and Modern combat equipment. He defended his master’s thesis entitled “Local self-government in the defense system of the Republic of Macedonia” in 2000 at the Institute of Defense and obtained the academic degree of Master of Defense.
He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Experiences, Development and Perspectives of the Military Organization and Military Skills” in 2005 and received the academic title of Doctor of Defense and Peace Sciences. In the same year he was elected assistant professor, and in 2010 he was elected associate professor in the scientific-teaching title of scientific fields: Military Doctrines, Fundamentals of Military Skill, Modern Armed Systems, Arms Control and Disarmament and Defendology. In 2015 he was elected full professor in the same scientific fields.
Professor Dr. Vancho Kenkov has participated in several international scientific conferences, symposia and seminars and is the author of several papers in the field of security, defense and peace.
During his work engagement he participated in the work of several commissions at the Faculty of Philosophy and in performing other work tasks at the Faculty and at the Institute for Security, Defense and Peace. Since 2014 he has been the Head of the Second Cycle of Strategic and Defense Studies at the Institute for Security, Defense and Peace, and since 2018 he has been the Head of the Institute for Security, Defense and Peace.
He has participated in numerous international scientific conferences, symposia and seminars, schools in the country and abroad. He speaks Russian, partly English and Greek.
Research interests: military doctrines, military skill, modern weapons systems, arms control and disarmament and other similar areas.
