Dr. Suzana Bornarova

Full professor

Prof. Dr. Suzana Bornarova was born in 1974 in Skopje. Bornarova is a full professor at the Institute for Social Work and Social Policy, Faculty of Philosophy – Skopje, at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje in 1998. In 2004 she acquired the title of Master of Social Policy after the defense of the master’s thesis “Social services for the elderly and modern trends in social policy – conditions and perspectives in R. Macedonia”. In 2006 she defended her doctoral dissertation “Social work with family – with a focus on continuing professional education” – a comparative study of the centers for social work in Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia, which earned her the scientific title of doctor of social work.

Prof. Dr. Suzana Bornarova was a Fulbright Scholar and had a Research Stay in Washington, DC, USA, where she resided from August 2009 to January 2010 and worked on research related to services for the elderly at the Catholic University of America.

In 2009 she won the Generations in Dialogue fellowship for research at the ERSTE Foundation in Vienna, Austria.

Prof. Dr. Suzana Bornarova is the coordinator of the National Center for Continuing Education for Social Development at the Institute for Social Work and Social Policy. She has participated in numerous conferences in the country and abroad and is the author of several domestic and foreign publications (scientific papers, reports from evaluations and analyzes, programs and strategies), as well as five university textbooks.

She speaks English. Her hobby is practicing yoga. She is an amateur painter.

Research interests: social policy, social protection and social work; special focus on social work with family, family policy and policy on demographic aging, migration.
