Dr. Marija Drakulovska Chukalevska
Prof. Dr. Marija Drakulovska Cukalevska was born 1976 in Kicevo. She graduated (2001) and received her master’s degree (2005) at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius ”in Skopje. In December 2005 she was employed at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje as an assistant at the Institute of Sociology. She defended her doctoral dissertation on “The relationship between global and local in culture: the case of the Republic of Macedonia” in April 2011 at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius ”in Skopje, which earned her the title of Doctor of Science in Sociology. She was elected assistant professor in June 2011, associate professor in May 2016, and full professor in December 2020 in the scientific fields (disciplines): general sociology, sociology of mass communication and information, communicology and sociology of globalization.
She has attended conferences and seminars at universities in Austria, Serbia, Poland, Bulgaria and Belgium. She is the President of the publishing activity at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje from October 2018 to October 2020, but she was reelected in November 2020 to November 2022.
Participated in a national scientific project: Population policies and socio-demographic development at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje (from January 2016 to June 2018). She has been engaged in many international scientific projects, Skills Development and Innovation Support Project (1 May-31 December, 2018), Perceived of Cultural Identity in the Context of Globalization: the Case of the Sultanate of Oman.
She speaks English.
Research interests: sociology, sociology of globalization, sociology of communications and media, sociology of language.
