ABOUT US

Global Change Center (GCC) is a research unit at the Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and
Methodius University in Skopje. The launching initiative was submitted in mid- 2022. The GCC
has been fully established in July 2023 in accordance with the Macedonian legislative and the
University’s internal regulations.

Utilizing the wealth of expertise and academic accomplishments of our Faculty staff members,
as well as tapping into the extensive knowledge of the esteemed members of the International
Advisory Board, the Center’s core mission is firmly rooted in the fields of geopolitics,
international relations and international security, diplomacy, foreign-policy analysis, peace and
conflict research, environmental security, energy security, migrations, and a host of related
disciplines.
At the outset of its operations, GCC places a significant emphasis on building internal structures
and cultivating academic relationships with similar centers in the Balkans and beyond.
Recognizing that the Macedonian academic community has had limited exposure and
collaboration with the global academic community, our foremost objective in this initial stage is
to forge partnerships and establish connections with esteemed individuals and institutions
worldwide. In the subsequent phase, we will actively initiate concrete collaborative activities
and projects.
The range of GCC activities is diverse, encompassing the development of project proposals and
the execution of collaborative research endeavors, both leveraging our in-house expertise and
fostering international cooperation. We also engage in the production of analytical reports, the
publication and dissemination of research findings, and the organization of roundtable
discussions and conferences. Moreover, there are plans to potentially launch a scholarly, open-
access journal in the future.
To ensure transparency and accessibility, GCC will regularly communicate its work and activities
to the public through various channels, including social media, mainstream media outlets, and
its official website.
